Message from the President

by Larry Ryan

On Sunday February 6, 2011, at the festive 02-06-11 Chinese New Year Celebration on the Yo San University Campus among the “Year of the Rabbit” renewal rituals and other presentations was a special citation conferred by the Yo San University Board of Trustees to me.

The citation presented by long time YSU Board Member, James Tuggle, J.D., recognized the successes in 2010 of the person in the position of the Yo San University President. The award was conferred in the form of a heavy plexi-glass heart en-scribed with the words of gratitude and love. I was completely surprised and deeply touched by the expression of appreciation by the Yo San University Board. Amid the reflections about Taoist harmony and balance, I found myself completely off guard and entirely out of balance as I struggled to express my thanks to James Tuggle, to Drs. Dao and Mao and to the entire Yo San community for their expression of confidence in me.

It was only after I made it through my presentation and had the opportunity to further collect my thoughts, that I came to the decided realization that the award was not really meant for me. While the award has my name on it, the citation is more appropriately directed to the entire Yo San University staff, faculty and students. Without a doubt, it is only through the collaboration efforts of staff, faculty and student that Yo San University is able to experience success in the year 2010 or in any other in the past or in the future.

So with this brief article I express my sincere thanks to our study body, faculty and staff for the outstanding cooperative work on so many levels and in so many diverse tasks, all engaged for the betterment of the entire Yo San University community. It is your effort and collaboration that accounts for the success of Yo San University. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Yo San community.
